The wellbeing services county’s IkäVinkki service provides guidance on the use of digital services for older residents of Kymenlaakso. IkäVinkki staff are regularly available at health centres and can also provide assistance with using Oma Kymenlaakso. Information on IkäVinkki meeting times is available online. Appointments can also be booked on behalf of a family member or other close person through Oma Kymenlaakso after first obtaining authorisation via the Suomi.fi e-Authorizations service.

If using Oma Kymenlaakso is not possible, appointments can be booked through a health centre patient office. Information on health centres and patient office opening hours is available on the wellbeing services county’s website. Not all health centres, such as the Kouvola Health Centre at Ratamo Centre, have a patient office. However, appointments can be booked through any patient office at a Kymenlaakso health centre, regardless of the resident’s municipality of residence.

Detailed instructions for those attending vaccination appointments have been compiled on the wellbeing services county’s website.

Who is eligible for vaccination?

The following groups are eligible for a free influenza vaccination through the wellbeing services county:

  • All persons aged 65 and over
  • Individuals belonging to medical risk groups due to illness or treatment
  • Close contacts of people who are particularly vulnerable to severe influenza
  • Pregnant women
  • Children under seven years of age
  • Persons beginning military service or voluntary military service

COVID-19 booster doses are offered to:

  • Elderly people living in care homes or receiving regular organised home care, as well as elderly informal care recipients
  • All persons aged 75 and over
  • People of all ages with severe immunodeficiency
  • Persons over 18 years of age with two or more medical conditions that increase the risk of severe COVID-19 disease

Residents of care facilities and home care clients will be vaccinated in their care facilities or through home care services. They will receive separate information about vaccination arrangements and do not need to attend a health centre for vaccination unless specifically instructed to do so by a healthcare professional. Children under seven years of age and pregnant women can receive an influenza vaccination at maternity and child health clinics during weeks 47–48 of the autumn season and again in week 2 of January. Vaccination appointments can be booked by contacting the clinic through the Oma Kymenlaakso chat service or by telephone. The vaccination may also be administered during another pre-arranged clinic visit. It is also possible to receive the primary COVID-19 vaccination series during the vaccination campaign.
