Eagle Drift Battle & Motorsport Weekend – Drifters Arrive at Kantasatama

7.5.2025 | A nationally significant motorsport event, Eagle Drift Battle & Motorsport Wknd, will take place on May 9–10 in the scenic maritime surroundings of Kotka.
Located near Kantasatama, between Satama Arena and the Maritime Centre Vellamo, the event brings together fans of drifting and motorsport while offering entertainment for the whole family.
On Friday, the event runs from 16.00 to 20.00 and on Saturday from 12.00 to 17.00.

The main attraction of the event is the lineup of drifting drivers and their cars. Vehicles from different classes will be on display, and drivers range in age from 15 to 50.

Among the highlights is SM PRO2 driver Marjo Tuviala from Kouvola, along with her BMW e61 drift car. Also attending from the Drift SM PRO class is Eemi Kamula from Kokkola, one of the first to register, bringing his BMW with over 1,000 horsepower — making its debut at the Kotka track.

This sport is ideal for all speed enthusiasts, where drivers skillfully steer their high-powered machines — some with over 1,000 horsepower — with millimeter precision through a designated performance area.

“This is the first time drifters are coming to Kotka, so the public has a unique opportunity to witness a show where tire smoke and skilled driving meet in one of the most audience-friendly motorsports,” says event producer Mikko Almgren from Eagle Motorsport.

There’s plenty to see and experience outside the drift shows as well. The event will feature race cars from various classes, go-karts, new car models from importers, a moped exhibition, motorcycles, tuned cars, and a wide array of auto accessories such as tires, wheels, and more.
Visitors can also test their skills on a drifting track using simulators available for everyone to try.

“This is a perfect opportunity for motorsport fans and families to enjoy a diverse and exciting program,” Almgren promises.

Delicious food will also play a central role at the event. Attendees can enjoy tasty meals, burgers, and other tempting options.

“The Satama Arena restaurant will serve lunch and refreshing drinks, and VIP guests will also be welcomed at the Arena,” says Almgren.

Eagle Drift Battle & Motorsport Wknd is a free event expected to attract thousands of visitors to the area. “This is top-tier entertainment where everyone can experience the unique atmosphere of a domestic motorsport event,” Almgren enthuses.

Parking for Visitors: City Center or New P-Areas

Mikko Almgren reminds visitors that parking near Satama Arena and Vellamo in Kantasatama is not allowed. Instead, attendees should use parking facilities in the city center, such as Toriparkki, or the newly designated P2 and P3 areas near Kotkamills, all within walking distance of the venue.
Since the Maritime Centre Vellamo is open on Saturday and Sunday, its parking lot is reserved exclusively for museum visitors.

“If you’re coming from the Kouvola direction, it’s best to take the train, as it brings you close to the event site,” Almgren advises.
