Downtown parks, drinking water quality, and paper and glass recycling collection points receive praise from Kotka residents.

9.10.2026 | Downtown parks, drinking water quality, and the locations of paper and glass recycling collection points receive the most praise from the City of Kotka’s residents in the Finnish Consulting Group (FCG) Municipal Infrastructure Services survey.

The purpose of the survey is to assess residents’ satisfaction and opinions regarding municipal infrastructure services on an annual basis. The survey focuses particularly on streets, parks, waste management, and water and wastewater services.

According to the survey, Kotka residents also value street cleanliness, the efficiency of organized waste collection, the performance of wastewater treatment plants, street lighting in the city centre, and sports and playing fields.

However, the number of respondents remains low (response rate 21%), and the reliability of the results is therefore based on a relatively small sample of Kotka residents. As the situation is similar across all municipalities, the results can nevertheless be considered comparable between municipalities (overall response rate 19%).
